The walk took place on 2 November. There were two participants, and the weather was mild but very windy and – initially – showery. The following 22 species were recorded, of which only one was a classic winter visitor: the two Fieldfares which flew out of a hedge at the extremity of area ‘C’. There was a notable absence of birds in the wood: on the outward route all that was recorded was a single Blackbird, and on the return the only addition was the usual Goldcrests in the larch plantation.
