The Winter Bird Walk took place on the morning of 16 January, a cold and grey day with intermittent showers. The weather had been even colder over the preceding weeks, with deep snow, which was now thawing. Twelve people participated, and the following 24 species were noted. (This was five species fewer than on the 2009 Winter Walk, although three of the species seen this time [Black-headed Gull, Heron, and Redwing] were not observed then. The species seen in 2009 but not this time were Kestrel, Red-legged Partridge, Skylark, Wren, Dunnock, Song Thrush, Marsh Tit, and Coal Tit.)
