The Walk took place on the morning of 26 April with eight participants (including two children). The weather was calm and mild. The following 26 species were recorded – the same number as on last year’s Spring Walk, although three of last year’s species (Kestrel, Stock Dove, and Song Thrush) are missing from this year’s list, while three others (Jackdaw, Yellowhammer, and Corn Bunting) were noted on this year’s Walk but not on last year’s. Three summer visitors were noted – Whitethroat, Blackcap, and Chiffchaff. (Although we heard them only in Area B, Chiffchaffs were by far the most numerous and widespread warblers in the area this Spring.) No Swallows or Swifts were noted on the Walk, though both had been seen in ones and twos recently in the area.
