Winter Bird Walk 2014

The Bird Walk took place on the morning of 11 January, a mild dry morning, with rain following. Five people participated, and the  25 species listed below were recorded. There was a notable absence of gulls and lapwings (which are normally seen overhead or on the open fields at this time of year) and a very small number of rooks (something that has been very striking locally this winter, where the normal flocks on the fields and passing overhead at dusk have simply not materialised). The two ravens seen and heard over Dean Wood near the end of the walk are now seen regularly over the village (following the same NW to SE route almost daily).
